Allen Combs-Photographer

I am a self-taught photographer with a degree in graphic design. I enjoy very much doing both, but am at my best when I am able to combine the two. This world is full of beauty. I hope, through my photographs,  to help others see that beauty in a new and different way.

Jacksonville Artists Coming Together

The Jacksonville Center For The Arts meeting at JMOMA on January 26, 2006 was very productive.

The turnout represented was a good mixture of the different types of people interested in The Center from visual artists, musicians, photographers, writers, to art directors. Notably, Sarah Gay, Director of Art in Public Places, and Jeanette Toohey from the Cummer Museum were in attendance and offered very valuable insights to our discussion. Thank you all for coming and sharing!

(In the above photo, a Jacksonville musician named Golliath Flores, introduces himself to the group).

Overview of Discussion

After all the artists attendees introduced themselves, Suzzette Solano, presented a powerpoint presentation which outlined the agenda of the meeting and touched upon the goals of The Center.

We had alot to discuss and it was a powerpacked meeting.

Topics of Discussion Were:

a. Did we secure a building from the city? How soon? Should we go forward
w/our own building search?
b. CPA Meeting and Business Plan Status/Officers and Advisory Board
Members
c. We need a logo (possible logo design contest)
d. Website Requirements from artists
e. Artists' Fees and Benefits.
f. The Center/JMOMA working together?
g. Art Festival/Discuss Fundraisers to generate some initial income

How Do We Do This?

We do it together. SO if you are interested in being a part of movement where all Jacksonville Artists are engaged in communicating and collaborating to share their art, then come join us.
