Theatre Jacksonville Is Looking To Work With Watercolorists!

ATTN: Artists
FROM: Theatre Jacksonville

We are looking for a watercolor illustration for the poster for our next production, Enchanted April. Below is the synopsis of the play and some visuals that are highlighted throughout that the artist may want to feature. The setting goes from dreary, rainy England to rich, lush Italy. In Italy, the gardens just outside a small castle is where all the scenes are played.

Our poster size is 11x17. It will most likely be a bleed (to the edge). We will create the poster around the art. We will be placing lots of text as well, so the best design might be one that frames three sides of the poster…leaving some room for title, author, director, dates, etc."

To the right is an image of the poster for the latest production, "Pack of Lies".

The Production:

"Enchanted April"

By Matthew Barber
Based on the novel by Elizabeth von Arnim
Synopsis: Desperate housewives 1920’s style! “To those who appreciate wisteria and sunshine. Small castle on the Mediterranean, Northern Italy, let for the month of April, cook, gardens, ocean view. Reply Box Eleven.” A simple advertisement provides the impetus for an unforgettable vacation for four women who escape their mundane lives for what becomes a wondrous journey to self-discovery. The 2003 Tony-Award-nominated comedy, first produced as a movie starring Miranda Richardson, offers equal parts smiles, secrets, sadness and joy as hearts and lives are transformed over the course of a truly magical month.

Key visuals: acacia tree, wisteria, gardens, silhouette of a woman (in loose, flowing 1920’s clothing) with a parasol or hat?
