COST OF FREEDOM EXHIBIT 2010



The Cost of Freedom First Place winner was Marsha Hatcher for her oil painting titled "Liberty's Torch".
Second Place went to Mary Atwood for her assemblage called "Time Capsule 1163"
Tomas Vercher was the Third Place winner for his lino cut print titled "Four"
Joyce Gabiou recieved the Merit Award.

The exhibit also includes art from the following artists:  Annelies Dykgraaf, Kathryn Milkey, James Worley, Keith Doles, Ted Head, Nancy Asbell, Mary Owens, Linda Hawkins and Pablo Rivera.  This exhibit will be on display at The Art Center on 229 Hogan St. until Nov. 15th.

GUESS WHO?! Fundraiser to Benefit Participating Artists & TAC UPDATE



Hello Artists! We already have lots of entries submitted and more rolling in. This is going to be a great event. Please note the DEADLINE for submissions is Tuesday 11.23.2010 at 3pm at our TAC Gallery located on 31 ADAMS. (take note that it's our gallery location that is receiving for the official deadline of 3pm) I will be working from my studio Tuesday evening from 6P-9P so if you want to drop off submissions then, you are welcomed to, but please let me know so I can expect you. My studio is at TAC II Studios located at 229 N. Hogan, you can either Facebook me or call/text my cell 904-881-0120.

A few things to note:
-be sure to print and fill out the submission form. it's available for download at www.tacjacksonville.org
-the minimum submission of 5 entries, was raised to unlimited amount of entries
-please make sure your work is either 4"x6" or 8"x10" (we are only offering 2 price points ($20 & for the 4"x6" & $50 for the 8"x10")
-DO NOT SIGN YOUR NAME ON THE FRONT OF YOUR WORK (hence the Guess Who?! part) if you do, there will be a lovely piece of non-stick tape that will cover your name. you are free to sign and label the BACK of your work (it's highly encouraged actually.)

Enter the Scan Design Fourth Annual Fall In Furniture Love Art Contest for a chance to win a Scan Design leather chair and to have your work shown to over 300,000 viewers in a Florida Design Magazine ad.
Scan Design is the Southeast’s leader in quality, contemporary furniture and a long time supporter of the arts. Last year we received over 300 entries from artists from around the state who created their interpretation of what it means to “Fall In Furniture Love”. We are hopefully going to have a bigger response this year.
Scan Design is looking for your own artistic interpretation of “Fall in Furniture Love”. Choose your medium: Painting, Sculpture, Photography, Multi-Media, Glass, etc. to show us how you interpret “Fall in Furniture Love”. We ask that you create a piece that is unique for this event and has a furniture related theme/angle. And have fun!

CONCURRENCY EXHIBIT

Art Center member Mary Atwood won an honorable mention if the Concurrency Show at AT&T Tower with her architecural study photograph entitled The Light from Above. This show runs through January 7, 2011.

TAC Artist MARIO DELLA PENTA Exhibiting @ The Library

"Reflections of an Artist 1975 - 2010"

JACKSONVILLE, FL - Fine Artist Mario Della Penta is pleased to announce that his newest exhibit, "Reflections of an Artist 1975 - 2010" will show December 1 - 30, 2010, at the Jacksonville's Main Library. The exhibition is a celebration of his long, successful career. Featured works include landscapes and portraits in oil, pencil sketches, and ceramics.
Mario's favorite medium is oil paint; "Oil gives a transparency, a fluidity to the paint stroke that I really like. Oil has proven itself to be durable and long lasting."
Della Penta was born in Italy and migrated to the Montreal, Canada. He moved to the United States and became a US citizen. He is a new resident of Jacksonville, FL, and has joined the Art Co-op as and the JCVA. He displays his works at the Hogan and Adams galleries in Downtown Jacksonville on a regular basis.
Prizes and acclaims include "First Prize in Media (Oil)" and "Best of Exhibition" at the Jane Voorhees Zimmerly Art Museum at Rutgers University, New Brunswick NJ. Della Penta has consistently been chosen to show in exhibitions in Montreal, New York City, in New Jersey, California. His works are in private collections in Canada, England, Italy, Spain, and the USA, and his commissioned works include clients' favorite places, such as Italian views, Jerusalem Skyline, and golf courses.

THE ART OF TREES EXHIBIT @ R. ROBERTS GALLERY

 TAC members Pablo Rivera and Mary Atwood were among those whose work was selected for The Art of Trees Exhibit at R. Roberts Gallery.  A portion of the proceeds from this show will be donated to Greenscape of Jacksonville to support their efforts to enhance our city through the planting, promotion, and protection of trees.  The show runs through November 27th.
