Interested in Watermedia?

The Jacksonville Watercolor Society (JWS) is looking for new members interested in exploring the joys of watermedia painting and comraderie of like minded individuals.

JWS was founded as a non-profit organization in 1982 to promote watercolor/watermedia as an important and recognized medium in the arts community, and to provide support as well as educational opportunities for the professional to the beginning artist.

Membership is open to anyone who is interested in watermedia. Fee of $35.00 per year includes eight (8) monthly meetings each with demonstrations and lectures by renowned and/or prominent local artists - providing support and arts education for the beginner to the professional. Unless otherwise specified, monthly meetings are held at 7:00p.m. the fourth Tuesday of the month beginning September thru May at FCCJ South Campus on Beach Blvd.

Throughout the year, we offer a variety of arts opportunities including two three-day watermedia workshops with nationally recognized artists, such as author/artist Marilyn Hughey Phillis, Sue Archer, author/artist David Dewey, collage artist Sherry O’Neill, and Janet Rodgers to name a few. Membership also includes the opportunity to participate in two annual Juried Awards Exhibitions (work must be delivered to JWS we do not ship nor receive artwork via mail), and we strongly encourage volunteerism as well as Board involvement. JWS is a wonderful way to meet and make new friends and network with an array of like-minded artists.
