Call for Jacksonville Dance Artists!

The Downtown Dance Project is looking for professional & emerging dance artists for their spectacular stage event at The Florida Theatre in October.

Dance artists need to provide a biography, mission statement, and a 2-minute DVD or VHS presentation to Toni Chadwell at the address below.

No phone calls please. Email inquiries will be addressed.

All materials are due by July 10.

Please pass this on!

The Downtown Dance Project is the second production of the Jacksonville Dance Forum, an organization of local dance professionals and other individuals devoted to increasing the awareness of dance in Jacksonville. Last year’s Dance Project was a huge success, and we hope to continue presenting special events to further enhance Jacksonville’s cultural landscape.

Jacksonville has a tremendous variety and depth of dance resources. In addition to our developing companies which offer a diversity of traditional dance styles and techniques, we have gifted solo artists exploring the boundaries of the art form and pushing it in new directions. Our dance education resources rival those of many major cities. Dozens of studios throughout the community offer private instruction for all ages, and the training programs offered through our public schools - LaVilla School of the Arts and Douglas Anderson School of the Arts - are first rate. At the college level, both Florida Community College at Jacksonville and Jacksonville University have exemplary dance programs. It is a credit to all these institutions that so many Jacksonville dancers have gone on to pursue successful professional careers around the country and the world.

All the best,
Toni Alison Chadwell
