Florida Master Gardener

Lee McDonald of Neptune Beach, Florida received the Florida Master Gardener Mass Communication Award for 2011. The Award was announced in Orlando, Florida during the annual state Master Gardener Conference on October 26, 2011 and presented to Mr. McDonald at the annual Duval County luncheon at the Extension Office on December 7.
A member of the Jacksonville Men’s Garden Club who also serves on the Board of Directors of the Art Center Cooperative, this past spring, McDonald served as the photographer for the Jacksonville Arboretum’s Brush with Nature, one of the most successful art and nature fundraisers in the region. He was the curator of the summer season show at the Beaches Museum, Seasons and Conservation in Florida. He has worked with several community groups in North Florida in the past year promoting Florida-Friendly gardening for the health and well being of community environments as well as encouraging biodiversity. He is a regular volunteer with other beach resident Master Gardeners at the Heritage Garden, a demonstration kitchen garden for sustainable home gardening located at the Railroad Foreman’s House in Pablo Park at the Beaches Historical Society and History Center. Mr. McDonald has lived in the Beaches community for twenty-two years.
